Curriculum Vision & Philosophy
MARIST COLLEGE recognises the importance of students receiving a comprehensive education, comprising both general and vocational education. We seek to develop the whole child, in the words of St Marcellin Champagnat, ‘to create good Christians and good citizens.’ We pride ourselves on a strong academic, cultural, sporting and spiritual foundation for young people.

Marist College Emerald aims to graduate students who have the attributes of a lifelong learner. Timetable
The curriculum is organised around a ten day cycle with five periods in a day.
Year 7 and 8 students study the six core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science, HASS (Humanities and Social Studies), Religious Education and Health and Physical Education) and alternate between 8 subjects from the Arts and Technology over the two years.
Year 9 and 10 students undertake the six core and two elective subjects on a yearly basis.
It is mandated by Catholic Education that Year 11 and 12 students study an English, Mathematics and a Religion course and our students combine these with a variety of VET, Authority and Authority Registered subjects to study six subjects in total.

Curriculum Matters
The curriculum must follow that set down in the accredited Work Program (WP) for each individual subject. A formal assessment calendar is collated for each year level up for all assessment items for the term and forwarded to students and parents. A separate exam timetable is also co-ordinated for each year level for the end of each term.
The College has an Assessment Policy for both students and staff that apply to all the subjects offered, including plagiarism, moderation and assessment attendance procedures.
Report cards are available to parents at the end of each term; attitudinal reports in Term 1 and 3, comprehensive reports in Terms 2 and 4. While formal Parent/Teacher interviews will be held twice yearly, teachers are encouraged to keep parents fully informed on a student’s progress or lack of it, especially in such matters as repeated failure to complete homework or written assignments. We encourage the use of the College Diary as an appropriate means of communication.
