Parental Involvement

Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in all facets of their son or daughter’s education to help maximize his/her potential. Success comes when parents and the College work in a supportive and collaborative partnership.

There are many opportunities for parents to become involved at Marist including:

  • Attending College functions and activities.
  • Joining the College Board. The Board consists of representatives of parents, clergy, teaching staff and the College Leadership Team. The Board provides advice to the Principal and develops policies on a range of school issues.
  • Attending monthly Parents and Friends Association meetings. The P&F organises various social and fundraising activities, the latter providing resources and facilities to enhance student learning.
  • Volunteering as Tuckshop helpers, assisting at sporting carnivals and/or assisting at camps and excursions.
  • Taking the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress at scheduled parent-teacher interviews or at other mutually convenient times. The Student Diary is also a valuable tool of communication between parents and teachers to report progress and raise concerns.
“For behind the parent stood the school, and behind the teacher, the home”
